The History and Beginning of Destin Jet - A Jay Odom Company
The Premier General Aviation Airport on the Emerald Coast and the Whole of the Florida Panhandle
The late Coleman Kelly established Destin Airport (DTS) also known as Coleman Kelly Field, in the late 1950’s. The first terminal was built in 1963 and Mr. and Mrs. Kelly granted the whole area to the City of Destin on January 22nd 1964.
Since then the airport has grown in importance and now is the premier general aviation airport on the Emerald Coast and the whole of the Florida Panahandle.
Jay Odom has a long time passion for aviation and bases his own aircraft at Destin Airport. He firmly believes that a high level of service is essential to provide visitors to Northwest Florida with everything they require. Unable to find this service locally, Jay Odom decided to provide it himself and was granted the authority to create a brand new FBO and terminal at Destin Airport in May 2006.
Work has progressed during 2007and 2008 and the new state of the art facility is planned to open in Spring 2009.
